Online Fund Data Reporting

Fund Data Services Migration & Target Operating Model
03/10/2025

Background

Our client, a leading global investment manager, was preparing to launch a multi-manager money market fund for a newly onboarded institutional investor.

Whilst the Central Bank of Ireland required the fund to report certain metrics to investors on a live webpage, the client also sought to enhance this with additional useful data points. Due to Internal resource constraints and a compressed timeline, the client required expertise to scope, manage and deliver this project at the required pace.

With our track record of hands-on project delivery, PryceWilliams led the end-to-end implementation alongside the main launch, which was critical to ensure alignment and success.

Approach

While bringing the right people and processes together, our work focused on:

  • Requirements gathering
  • Stakeholder engagement & coordination
  • Solution & Target Operating Model design
  • Project management & implementation oversight

Analysis

Requirements Gathering
  • We undertook a detailed assessment to capture client-specific reporting needs and performance metrics, before mapping these to internal data feeds.
  • Clarified expectations for automation and timing to ensure early availability of data in the client’s time zone.
Stakeholder engagement & coordination
  • Identified and engaged key contacts across marketing, technology and data management, including external fund administrators responsible for supplying daily feeds.
  • Mobilised working groups to manage activities, progress and decision points.
  • Coordinated responsibilities, data handover points, and delivery timelines to guarantee collaboration.
Solution & Target Operating Model design
  • Mapped the end-to-end flow of key data from the external administrator, through client systems to the public reporting webpage.
  • Documented the current and target operating models, specifying data sourcing, transfer timings, ownership, and system touchpoints.
  • Identified manual processes that could be automated to reduce errors.
Project management & implementation oversight
  • Prioritised the critical path to meet the demands of a tight launch schedule.
  • Took direct responsibility to drive the project to go-live, managing deadlines, testing cycles, and secondary improvement phases.
  • Proactively addressed manual bottlenecks by transitioning processes to automated solutions ahead of or immediately post-launch.

Conclusions

Our project delivery expertise and understanding of the investment management operating model allowed us to identify and implement the right solution quickly, achieving the following for our client:

  • Immediate access to fund reporting metrics through the successful design and implementation of the reporting webpage from the launch date.
  • Allowed internal teams to focus on core business activities while ensuring timely delivery by filling a resource gap.
  • A strengthened relationship with their investor by providing a responsive, reliable and functional solution.

Recommendations

Based on the successful implementation from this webpage reporting project, we recommend the PW Project Planning check to support similar initiatives in your organisation. The PW Project Planning check includes the following:

  • Assessing resource capacity: Internal teams often have the technical capability but not the delivery capacity to take on project work alongside BAU. Bringing in specialist delivery support ensures deadlines are met without overloading staff.
  • Clarifying requirements: Ensuring all expectations and non-negotiables are identified upfront helps reduce downstream rework and can anticipate blockages.
  • Understanding your business operating model: Having a wide understanding of the operating model enables you to leverage market knowledge and networks to unlock access to key stakeholders and decision-makers, accelerating problem-solving and solution design.
  • Alignment with strategic outcomes: A proper understanding of expected business outcomes ensures that deliverables aren’t just treated as functional tools; they can play a vital role in achieving success.
